Experiment #423: 400w Metal-Halide Light Bulb
(Rated G) This giant light bulb is similar to the mercury vapour bulb I microwaved a few months ago, except this time I'm microwaving it for nearly three times as long and it actually just gets brighter and brighter while the mercury bulb didn't seem to do that. For the most dramatic effect, I used the microwave without a light. What I didn't expect was that the bulb would get stuck against the side the whole time I was microwaving it, the mercury bulb was stuck for only a brief time. This is one of the better "microwave a light bulb" episodes that I've ever done. Anyways, sorry for the abrupt ending to this episode, I was feeling a bit lazy since it was time to make supper, and I didn't feel like going back to check on it straight away. Also I did not open the door immediately or even after a few minuets because I didn't want it to explode like the lava lamp did, and these types of bulbs have been known to explode violently when in use.
