The sneaking on this level is pretty easy since you can skip a huge amount by using the pathway inbetween all the crates. I actually died due to my throwing knife bouncing off the bandit's armour... aiming for their sides where armour isn't present is a good option.
The bandit that just randomly falls over is actually killed by Khan from the shadows. Also, don't smoke the pipe next to the bandit unless you want your controls to be seriously confusing for about a minute or so. Right at the end I fail to kill the bandit silently, but you can just run like I did and make it to the cutscene.
The level afterwards is a cool but easy level with no real fighting there.

I edited the user.cfg with notepad in order to increase the FOV.
To do this you must edit the SICK_FOV value in the THREE user.cfg files located here:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\metro 2033
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[random set of numbers]\43110\remote
Important: You need to keep the fullstop. I set it to "SICK_FOV 65." Remember that Metro uses vertical FOV measurement rather than the common horizontal measure. A vertical FOV of 65 is a horizontal FOV of 90 on a 16:10 1920x1200 resolution. Setting it any higher might make some errors appear like seeing the 'end' of your arms during reload animations or cutscene animations. You can try to see what you like best.
I just think the default FOV is ridiculous... and unfortunately, this is becoming way to common an issue for console ports nowadays.

![Metro 2033 - Ranger Hardcore Walkthrough Part 8 - Depot + Defense + Child
The revolver is really very handy at Depot with its one-shot kills, you can also knife/bash some of the monsters hanging onto the cart. The level Defense is pretty much the same as most other defence levels, use your gun if you get swamped, otherwise try and let the other defenders do the killing.
Child is a pretty annoying level because your aim gets a huge delay (apparently from carrying Sasha on your back), be sure to listen out from where the lurkers are coming from in order to shoot them just as they emerge from the holes. Its very easy to get swamped and lose track of them, especially since non of the monster have collision boxes and will jump right through you... trying to move your aim in 180 turns several times will get you killed with the huge mouse delay.
It would be a good idea to pickup a scoped weapon somehwere in these levels if you dont already have one for the upcoming Outpost level in order to take out the snipers.
