On the bench today is a Matchbox Peterbilt tractor with a low bed trailer. This is my entry to the Diecast International Builders 18 Wheels A Rollin’ invitational.
Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 American action comedy film starring Burt Reynolds as good ‘ole boy Bo "Bandit" Darville and Jerry Reed as Cledus "Snowman" Snow, two bootleggers attempting to illegally transport 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana to Atlanta. While the Snowman drives the truck carrying the beer, the Bandit drives point, in a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, to distract law enforcement and keep the attention off the Snowman. During their run, they are comically pursued by Sheriff Buford T. Justice, played by Jackie Gleason.
It was the second-highest-grossing domestic film of 1977 in the United States.
Snowman’s truck was a Kenworth W900A short-frame, equipped with a 38-inch sleeper? The 48-foot (15 m) mural trailer was manufactured by Hobbs Trailers in Texas with a non-operational Thermo King Refrigeration unit.
Hal Needham, better known in the industry as a stunt man, made his directorial debut in this film. He actually drove the Trans Am in the jump over the dismantled Mulberry bridge.

FYI: All of the Maple Leaf Customs finished projects that are kid-friendly are put in custom blister packs and go to my local Goodwill store where they are given to children for free. If there are parts that can be swallowed, those cars are given as gifts to adult collectors that are fellow enthusiasts.
