Alright, here’s your rundown!! We’re going to start on what happened Friday night and work our way to today!
Deputy Josue Rivera responded to the Bealls Department Store off SW 114th Street and initiated a report for Petit Theft regarding a man putting merchandise down his pants and leaving the store. Later in the shift, while investigating a possible Burglary, Deputy Rivera saw a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the theft. Deputy Rivera recognized an occupant of the vehicle, Christopher Jones, as being the subject he had viewed on store security cameras. He was arrested and transported to the Gold Star Hotel.
Deputy Dean Pescia was running radar in the 13500 block of East County Road 25 and detected a vehicle traveling north at 50 mph in a 30 mph speed zone. He attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. A pursuit was initiated and continued into the Silver Springs Shores area. The vehicle stopped at Hemlock Radial Lane and Hemlock Circle Trace and the driver fled on foot. Deputy Riley Artman caught the defendant, Elijah Francis, and Deputy Michael Lowder assisted in taking him into custody. A loaded hand gun was located near where Francis was taken into custody. Francis was arrested and transported to the Gold Star Hotel.
Someone entered approximately seven unlocked vehicles in the area of S.E. Almond Road off of Baseline Road, and stole multiple items to include new Stihl lawn equipment.
Deputy McClure responded to the 160th block of Marion Oaks Pass in reference to suspect(s) forcibly entering the residence by kicking in the front door. Once inside, a 60” Samsung television and a jewelry box containing miscellaneous jewelry was stolen. Total loss is approximately $585.
Deputy Music responded to the Walmart in Summerfield in reference to the reportee receiving a phone call from an unknown male subject advising he kidnapped the reportee’s girlfriend and was demanding $1,300 or he would kill her. The woman was located safe, shopping in The Villages. The phone number used by the suspect was not a working number. These types of scams are very scary and are becoming more and more prevalent. Most of the time, the suspects are half-way across the world when they make the call. If you get a call like this, do not give them any money. Try to make contact with your loved one first and call 911 so we can help track down what's going on.
