Well... that just happened. Also sorry my tracker wasn't working, I have no idea what happened there.
This run does not use an optimal route- it uses a "safe" route that circumvents the currently unsolved conundrum of how to at least semi-consistently get Laser Beam as the active pitcher. Bowser Jr.'s assistance is still overall pretty fast, but this category is definitely not 'solved' until that nut's been cracked, and I'm making slow but steady progress with offline experimentation.
That said, I got tired of experimenting and decided to just post a damn time on the board.
My goal was all minigames first try, reasonably quick Jr, and 2 innings against Mario. I ended up getting all great first try minigames, Jr. was about as fast as it can go (only a double play after the Laser would have been faster), and I... did... get that 2 inning Mario. It felt dicey at times, but I managed to make my way through everything in one piece. You're heavily constrained by Waluigi MVP in terms of how you can hit, especially if you lose no-hitter (which I did), and that's why my batting might have looked strange.
But let's talk about that play at 7:33, though. Waluigi needed a third hit for 3 Hits and I needed a 10th run for the Mercy Rule, so totally fine going in, I'm not even upset or nervous that I'm at 2 outs. I notice that Petey has the opportunity to go for a Body Check and I think to myself "hmmm, Waluigi could drive in more runs... more MVP points... sounds good to me!" And my plan was to just get an 11th run, with a 12th being overkill. I guess Yellow Pianta just kinda shut down after fucking up the fielding so badly though. I've been there, buddy. Just take a breather. You'll kill another one of my runs soon, I'm sure.
It costs about four seconds to do Chain Chomp Sprint after Barrel Batter rather than at the very beginning of the run, and for me that's absolutely worth it irrespective of the fact that it makes Bowser Jr. manipulation possible.
