This glitch allows you to finish any battle, including boss battles, instantly. Doing this on Bowser will cause you to be teleported to the Lakitu Info Centre (youtu.be/cUPzYgbFDgs), before the final cutscene, the Records screen, and the "Thank you for playing!" screen. We decided that this counts as beating the game since you watch the credits, and use it in Any%.
To do this first get Toad Storage, either with Tropical Paper Toad Hunt (http://youtu.be/TPFhwzhsdGM?t=2m5s), or Paper Toad Freeze-Out (shown in the video). Then die in a battle.
If it is a boss battle, or a battle with regular enemies that leads into a cutscene, then select "Return to title screen without saving.". The game will now think you won the battle, but you won't receive any of the rewards.
If it is a regular battle, then dying will cause the battle to be exited automatically and the screen to go completely black. Pausing and unpausing will make Mario, Luigi, Paper Mario, enemies, coins, and other objects visible. The ground will stay invisible. Doing this glitch on a regular battle hasn't been tested very much at all yet, though it seems all walls are still loaded unfortunately.
