"PDA" by Manatee Commune
Curated by: Jared Paul
Spotify: bit.ly/PDAManateeCommune
Genre: #futurehouse
Animal Collective had been playing in Grant Eadie's head for a minute and he liked their name. Simultaneously he was learning about the intricacies of communes and also around that time he came across a meme of a manatee making contact with the glass containing the wondrous beast. A series of occurrences that led to him choosing his "Manatee Commune" moniker.
Life is nothing but a series of short, connected occurrences, and my introduction, and now legit fandom of Grant's music too was of this nature. Rock With This curator Tyler Pavlas introduced me to MC, then he kept popping up in playlists and in random life events. Then he was at Coachella. And finally he showed up in this past Friday's Release Radar.
Ok universe, I get it. Manatee Commune is the shit. His music is as consistently fresh as any producer I'm into right now and this is a train to hop onto before it's overflowing with fans. Hear it for yourself. "PDA" delivers a bright, airy vibe combined with a super tight production aesthetic. His music is filled with lush layers and lots of interesting sounds but it's never overdone. Always just right. Dare I say...a commune of noise? Yep, I went there.
The Seattle-based producer will be opening up for also Seattle-based Odesza at their Wild Buffalo reunion show and one can only assume that it won't be long before they welcome him to their Foreign Family Collective.
Do it Odesza. Bring him home.
