Luminous Avenger iX 2 | Part 12: Hanging Gardens 2
The Workers are done for. Now it's time to rescue Kohaku. We're still in the Hanging Gardens.
But I also show something else to boot. What is it? Well if you've collected all 36 Bonus Emblems, you go through the last stage as usual. But instead of continuing up, head down. Head down near the end and you'll find a small cave with a door. The door will unlock and it'll lead to a teleporter with a purple aura. In that place, Copen hears someone say, “You must... save her...” Copen and Lola end up being swallowed into a white light. This will unlock Hard Mode. I will do it eventually.
Continuing on, Copen reaches the inner area and finds Kohaku. Unfortunately she is then absorbed by the Mother Computer itself. She transforms and now we have to face off against her, the supervisory AI who oversees the tower and this world. She explains that before leaving, her master gave her a mission: revive the human race and protect the environment. Only workers remain in this hellscape. She did everything she could but it was all for naught. Copen thinks that she'll use Kohaku to revive humanity but Mother has other plans. She ain't interested in reviving humanity and she sees the Workers as the true rulers. They see the history of this world and the Master as a myth. But now with Kohaku, she can override her mission. So now we got to stop her.
This battle is a 2-phase fight. Phase 1 will have her in a shield. Use Whirling Chopper to remove her barrier. Funny enough, she is using moves from Gunvolt 2. Eventually her health will get lower and she'll use Attack Code S.H.R.E.D. You need to avoid her attacks and afterwards, bring the pain. Once she's defeated, this leads to Phase 2. Turns out Mother refuses to give up and assumes a different form.
Phase 2 is a different sort as you need to use Gatling Blitz to take her down. Watch out for her many attacks as they hurt. When you take out her body, you need to damage the tower. It'll fire bolts so you can just dash while attacking. Using Gatling Blitz can also help too. It fires three sets of five bolts that home in on you. As long as you keep moving, you'll be fine. Once it's health goes to red, it'll unleash Instinct Code: Downpour. This will lower your defenses and use lightning attacks. Dodge them and you'll manage. Just be sure to get Kohaku to end the fight. If you take too long, you'll get a bad ending where Mother possesses Kohaku and you'll notice her personality being different.
With Mother defeated, the battle is over. Kohaku has a realization regarding Mother, to the point that she wanted Copen to stop her. It's strange. Fortunately, Kohaku knows a way for us to get back home. With the power of the Tower shutting down, Kohaku leads the way. It's then they lead to a wormhole and thankfully, it leads them back home.
This completes Luminous Avenger iX 2. But we're not done yet. We got boss rematches to contend with in Part 13.
