A (hopefully) enjoyable tribute to the Warner Brothers musical starring Doris Day, who also performed the title tune (of course). She plays a dancer named Melinda Howard who returns from Britain to reunite with her mother, Gladys George, whom she believes is still a Broadway dancer, but has in actuality, fallen on hard times and is performing in a seedy nightclub. A dancer and producer Tom Farnham (Gene Nelson) becomes romantically interested in Miranda but also recognizes her talent and of course, there are some great musical numbers, as well as a romance with complications, but of course it works out in the end. It boasts a fine supporting cast, including Billy De Wolfe, S.Z. Sakall, Florence Bates and Anne Triola.
