As usual blocking the pavement (sidewalk) with skips.
If you ever see a waste truck from Bywaters, Brewsters, Hunts and SCS trading with these guys you can tell it's hookie gear as none of those large waste companies have a contract to supply metal scrap waste to this dealer. A short conversation with the companies mentioned and others confirms their trucks are not supposed to be offloading at this trader. The cops are well aware of what is happening but are unwilling to tackle the problem. The street you see in this shot is a one-way road with the vehicles only allowed to move towards the camera, The forklift truck you see is not registered for road use and therefore in an accident is uninsured. The fact that it spends the whole day going up and down a one-way street and endangering legitimate traffic also seems to be of no concern to the authorities.
On a daily basis offenses are commited by these geezers with little indication the authorities are willing to enact the law and regulate them properly.
The guys that run this 'business' are the same people who write a letter defending a heroin deal at a Law Court and claim that a near 60 year old disdabled man has threatened their customers with violence thus losing them business.
Whatever made the Council's Planning Department think this was a good place to set up a scrap dealership from I do not know, but they did in 1997. The street has always been one way (South to North) and yet this legal requirement is breached dozens of times each day. even if you film it the cops say they have to witness it themselves before they will act. Again this is an 'accident' waiting to happen.
Often when they block the pavement on the railway side with their little skips they/their customers park a vehicle on the pavement on the opposite side of the road forcing walkers out into the road. One of the people that has to use this road on a regular basis is a middle aged man that is all but blind. Do York Scrap care? Pull the other one its got bells on it.
