Welcome to part forty nine in this series of videos in which I take the advice of all of those Christian fundamentalists and read my bible - literally
You see if you are going to believe in the literal "truth" of the bible and take it literally then literally is the only way that you can read it.
In this episode Jacob, knowing that the end is near, gathers his sons together and tells them the future.
For some its good news and for others it isn't but no matter which, its accurate. Mainly because this part of the narrative was written a good time later and is actually a fanciful telling of how the tribes of Israel came to be descended directly from Jacob even if the people in them came from places much further afield.
Finally he then makes his sons promise that they will take him back to Canaan and bury him with his wife in the cave of the patriarchs in Hebron.
And then he dies.
But at least one of his sons takes the news badly.
