‘The Birds are Joyous; for it is Morning’ is the final prelude in a set of six written by Liam Furey. This short work juxtaposes thick low sustained chords with more decorated, active melodies in the higher register of the piano. Performed here by Liam, the preludes are intended to contrast with one another, creating a snapshot of different universes in a short amount of time.
