_Vobiscum in aeternum_ was commissioned by The Tudor Consort in 2011 for a ‘Made in New Zealand’ concert. The commission brief was to take an ancient piece of music as a starting point for a new creation. Ross Harris took the Tudor motet _If ye love me_ and composed a prelude to it, using the Latin translation of the same words. In his own words, Ross was interested in composing a work that was “ambiguous and searching, that would evolve and change and turn, and then unfold onto the gorgeous original”. Ross’ dense and canonic Latin setting of the text acts as an introduction to a performance of Thomas Tallis’ original work, sung in English.
