Complaints were filed against Sgt. E. Sturges and Lt. R. Hazewinkel of the Town of Lexington Police Department for dishonoring their oath, disregarding State Election Law, and violating the South Carolina Motor Vehicle Code. Complaints were taken by the Assistant Chief of Police Major Matt Davis.

Earlier in 2024, while gathering content for my news channel at one of the early voting locations in Lexington County, an ill-informed poll worker hits the panic alarm. Sargent Sturges responds and accuses me of causing a problem. He says that I can't record voters, and threatens me with consequences if I continue. Instead of educating the poll workers on state law, constitutional rights, and common sense, he and his lieutenant spend the next hour searching for a crime to charge me with. They make numerous calls, and texts to the higher ups only to be disappointed when they ultimately find out the answer. In order to save face, they continue pretending that they know what they're doing, while I document the whole clown show. All the while running their vehicles unattended for an hour and ten minutes in violation of the South Carolina Motor Vehicle Code 56-5-2570.
Sturges and Hazewinkel are in no hurry to go back to work even though calls for service are being broadcasted over the radio. After wasting my time and accomplishing absolutely nothing Sturges finally goes 10-8, but not without his groupies coming out of the woodwork to thank him for his service, and praise him for being a hero, delaying him further from going back to work. Only after he sees me documenting his very slow departure does he decide to do his well deserved drive of shame. Hazewinkel stays behind to further comfort the poll workers, and continue with the charade, while his vehicle continues to run unattended in violation of the SC Motor Vehicle Code Title 56.

Peace officers shall enter polling place only on request or to vote.
No sheriff, deputy sheriff, policeman or other officers shall be allowed to come within the polling place except to vote unless summoned into it by a majority of the managers.
South Carolina Motor Vehicle Code SECTION 56-5-2570
No person driving or in charge of a motor vehicle shall permit it to stand unattended without first stopping the engine, locking the ignition, removing the key and effectively setting the brake thereon and, when standing upon any grade, turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the highway.
