In this lecture, we introduce the absolute thermodynamic scale of temperature. Using the fact that all reversible engines operating between same high and low temperature reservoirs have the same efficiency, we show that there exists an absolute thermodynamic scale of temperature. This scale is independent of the thermometric properties of the working substance. We then show that this absolute scale co-incides with the ideal-gas temperature scale.
