In this lecture, we start with an example of evaluation of DFT. Motivated by this example, we discuss the concepts of folding and periodicity of the DFT spectrum. In particular, we show that if we have a discrete signal at N time instants, then the only meaningful frequencies are 0 to N/2 (in units of 1/dt).
