This is "Lazer Tag" for the Amstrad CPC released back in 1987 by Go! and developed by Probe. The music is made by Jason Brooke.
It is a vertical shooter very similar to Commando only it is located in the year 3010.
You must prove yourself in the use of laser weapons by going through various levels filled with enemy fighters and vehicles.
Each level consists of two parts.
The first is the "Shoot Out" where you make your way by killing your enemies and try not to get killed by them.
The second part is the "Target".
In this part your fighter's movement is controlled by the computer and you must kill as many enemies as you can. Don't get trigger happy because precision is what gives you more points in this part.
Once you have completed the two parts you gain higher status as a fighter and proceed to the next more difficult level.
Technically the game is impressive as it offers smooth vertical scrolling, 16 color graphics, good controls and both in-game music and sound effects.
The game's difficulty is very well balanced and you will find it easy to proceed through the various levels.
Sadly after you have reached the final status "Duelist" the game just loops back to the last level. So no ending sequence for this!
