Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643, in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. He was a great scientist, mathematician and astronomer and is considered one of the most important scientists in history. Even Albert Einstein said that Isaac Newton was the smartest person that ever lived. During his lifetime Newton developed the theory of gravity, the laws of motion which became the basis for physics, a new type of mathematics called calculus, and made breakthroughs in the area of optics such as the reflecting telescope.
He once said "If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants." Sir Isaac Newton died on March 31, 1727 in London, England, but before dying he said something memorable, he said, “I don’t know what I may seem to the world. But as to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore and diverting myself now and then in finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than the ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.”
