In 2014, astronomers found a cold star named, WISE 0855−0714. It was discovered using the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Gemini North telescope.
It is located at 7.2 light-years away from us in the constellation Hydra. WISE 0855−0714 is basically a sub-brown dwarf and has approximately the same size as of Jupiter but 3-10 times heavier than it.
It is also the coldest object of its type found in the interstellar space, having a temperature in the range of -48°C to -13°C. Astronomers suggested that, it was born like a normal star but it didn't have enough mass and fuel.
As a result, it wasn’t able to start a nuclear fusion in its core and therefore, cooled down with time becoming the coldest star till discovered.
