Yeah I levelled down for this. I did remove all the extra level-up bonus points, but not the library levels, though given that my characters' library levels are all in the 110-130 range it's still within hard mode restriction, so eh. Having gears obtained from exploring B1F makes a far bigger difference here.
Anyways, the first of the 12 refights is also one of the more difficult ones, mostly just because the barrage of four nut eaters hurts so badly, and Malignut Eater, like all the main game postgame bosses, have high defenses and can be difficult to hurt. It only has 50 DTH resist though so you can easily skip the fight with Yuyuko, which I really recommend you doing since this fight's just all in all not fun (especially with lower library levels and no plus disk gears from B1F).
