Like the original fight, Knowledge's Shadow alternates between buffing its MAG to max, and blasting your party with Ether Flare. Unlike the original fight, this Knowledge has way more massive MAG score, enough that most characters just outright can't survive it no matter how much you tweak without overlevelling. It also has comparably higher SPD, and immunity to every status except SIL (0 resist) and SHK (40 resist). Oh and aside from practical magic immunity, it also has high DEF, because of course it does.
There are mostly three routes you can take to deal with this thing. You can either try to use one of the very few characters who can tank a hit (with 500+ MYS affinity and SIL inflicted, it does about 23k maximum after 10% damage reduction from Strategist or Transcendent. Characters with Eyes that Perceive Reality can lower it to about 13k maximum, and of course other damage reduction skills like Fighting Spirit also can help), or SHK lock the thing while you attack, or just try to get in massive damage before it can get 2 turns. I don't have a good SHK inflictor and I don't really have a party that is geared to deal high damage to this thing, so I'm forced to just tank the fight out. It doesn't have any variation to its pattern at least so if you can survive one round, you can survive all of them (provided you don't run out of MP).
Honestly though, I don't know how viable it is to try and get characters other than Renko to have enough HP to survive Ether Flares while maintaining 500 MYS affinity. Satori could probably do it because of Eyes that Perceive Reality, and Rinnosuke should be able to pull it off I think? Of course if you do have an NG+ file you can just get Maribel to tank this thing since she turns that massive MAG buff into a massive MAG debuff, so she can survive it very comfortably.
Unlike the previous shadow fights, I allowed Suika and Chen to have back all their level-up bonus instead of being limited by their current level because look at this fight; can you blame me for wanting to cut it just a little bit shorter?
