CHESTERFIELD SQUARE - The Los Angeles Fire Department battled a greater alarm fire that destroyed a South Los Angeles church early Thursday morning, having spread from an adjacent building used by congregation, that was the scene of a separate fire little more than 24 hours earlier.
The fire was reported at 3:18 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 2156 West Slauson Avenue in the Chesterfield Square neighborhood of Los Angeles.
It took 113 LAFD responders under the command of Assistant Chief Douglas Lewis, 75 minutes to extinguish the bulk of flames that destroyed the former commercial building as well as the church.
