Approximately 80 firefighters achieved full extinguishment of an apartment fire in 2 hours and 34 minutes. Heavy fire was confined to one unit on the second floor. Adjacent units have sustained smoke and water damage. Two dogs, both awake and alert, were located and safely removed from the affected unit. No injuries were reported to fire department personnel. Two adults were transported to local hospital for further evaluation. Red Cross is assisting displaced residents and those in need of assistance. LA Building and Safety are assessing structural damage and compromise. LAFD Arson is investigating the cause of the fire.
