This is a concept of how the 1983 demo of The Telephone Call would have sounded like.
I started doing this in 2021 for a Karl or Wolfgang birthday special, but forgot about it until I rediscovered it. Not much had to be done because the quality doesn't need to be that good for a demo. Just some sounds had to be refurbished.
Three elements that are also included in Tour De France and the Techno Pop demo are used here: the Orchestron, the Emulator I slap bass and another bass that has similarities to the one from the Korg PS-3300 used by Kraftwerk in 1981. While the arpeggio in the Techno Pop demo is reminiscent of Europe Endless, the reverbed Orchestron choir reminds of Showroom Dummies. Not only the Orchestron cello, but also the Orchestron violin appears in the demo concept, although slightly obscured.
After the mix got finished, I applied some special effects on it to make it sound like as if it came from a cassette found in 2024.
