In Linz, Austria, there's a festival taking place every year since 1979 called "Ars Electronica" (meaning "electronic art" in Latin) where artists present artworks related to digital technology. The 1993 slogan of this festival was "Genetische Kunst - Künstliches Leben" (genetic art - artificial life). Kraftwerk took the opportunity to play there since their music is related to machines. The concert took place in the Brucknerhaus inside the "Große Saal".

They didn't perform an ordinary concert there. Florian used a special device during Pocket Calculator and Music Non Stop which is the Doepfer MOGLI Power Glove. He used it to trigger samples in Pocket Calculator and Music Non Stop. A pity that there are no photos of it! It may sound like as if the crowd was dead in the recording, but the stage was in fact full by looking at this photo: https://archive.aec.at/media/assets/22831c6e4371c1cc55f8d95704523d6c.jpg

The concert started normally until the arp sequence accidentely got triggered in the intro of Heimcomputer. In Computerliebe, a new intro got introduced in 1993 which they strangely didn't play in this concert. This was the last time they played that song in the 90s. Computerliebe made its return in 2006. Das Model was played for the last time as well until the English version returned in 1998 and the German version in 2004.

A minor change was done in the setlist. Tour De France and The Man Machine got swapped. In last concerts, Tour De France was played after The Model. This time, it's The Man Machine. In a Russian bootleg, there's a recording of The Man Machine claiming to be from this concert, but it's actually from Groningen '93 which is a pitiful mislabel.

Ralf didn't play the 1981 chords in Autobahn like in last concerts. Henning used metallic bass synths in Radioactivity and Music Non Stop which fit nicely to the 1993 festival tour because they sound futuristic.

Pocket Calculator and Music Non Stop is where it really gets exciting. The power glove can be heard in action. Florian triggered the calculator sounds with it. Normally, he would let the audience press the button, but this time he didn't because someone from the audience could grab his hand and pull him of the stage. Weirdly, the arp sequence sounds distant and heavily reverbed.

In Music Non Stop, Florian did some jamming with his power glove before the song truly started. After the first chorus, the tom drums are used for the last time. Florian's solo had a theatrical transition to Fritz' solo once again. The voice synth loop didn't trigger right away after Ralf's solo. It only appeared at the very end and Florian pitched the voice synth down after a few repetitions which makes it sound creepy.

It sounds like a game over. Kraftwerk would never be the same after this concert. In 1997, Ralf's appearance and his voice already changed a bit, Fritz' hair turned gray and Florian got bald. Only Henning looked the same with the difference that he shaved off his sideburns. Computer Love didn't get changed in a smooth transition like other songs and Ralf stopped using the synclavier after the concert in Linz.

Special thanks to Babass_ for uploading the alt source.

For a long time, there was a source of Linz which had horrendous distortion, sounded extremly distant from the stage and it lacked Autobahn and the 2nd half of Music Non Stop. The alt source doesn't have these problems and even has the pre show sounds, but the sound is flat and the snares are oversaturated. I put several EQs on it to give the sound more volume and to reduce the oversaturation of the snares. Additionally, I put a reverb on the recording to restore the venue acoustics. The only problem I couldn't fix is the speed issue in Die Roboter and Robotronik. Some songs improved to A-. I would even give Pocket Calculator and Music Non Stop an A~ because there's only a very small amount of oversaturation.
