I never thought I would do this in my lifetime, but I decided to rewind the clock of From Software's library, all the way back to the original King's Field for the PS1. It's an incredibly rough game, and this was a very different era of From Software before they were known for the Souls series. But it was here that some of the foundations for that series would be born, and a relatively young company was already reaching for the stars here, with one of the most influential and impactful dungeon crawlers and rpgs to come out of the 90s. It has some interesting backstory and lore, 3d models have some nice details despite the low polygonal counts, music is nauseous but has it's moments, and the gameplay is challenging at first but gets easier as you level up. I would love to check out more of the King's Field games in the future, including From Software's earlier library in general. If you don't mind old school and low poly 3d experiences, it's still worth exploring, even if it's just for historical purposes.
