A cover of Kefka's Theme, from the video game Final Fantasy VI.
As I'm currently nearing the end of my first playthrough of FFVI, I figured it was about time for a cover! I'm absolutely enjoying everything about the story so far, from the characters, the story and the music, it's all amazing!
There are so many memorable tracks from this game, but I figured the best place to start is with the infamous Kefka and his theme!
I definitely love the circus vibe of his theme, which very much initially thought the cover would lend itself to something in the style of Avatar (which there may be a reference to in the arrangement!) and there were no shortage of ideas when arranging this. Hence why this cover has lots of ups and downs and just an overall progressive vibe.
The tuning of this cover is also interesting, I usually keep things simple in B Standard, but there were parts where I had to tune down to Drop A, but then that would make the parts in standard more difficult. So the solution was to just utilize both tunings in the song!
I also decided to give a little nod to the mad man himself with the Kefka face paint (also Avatar inspired!) which hopefully adds a little something to the video!
