kathy ireland Home by Luminance Brands Arlo 44" ceiling fan in oil rubbed bronze. Recently saw this Amazon return pop up on eBay for super cheap and couldn't resist grabbing it. I was in talks with Luminance for more than a year attempting to get kiH products in for new product features, but clearly that's all been wiped off the table. Given the almost certain doom of this product line now, I wanted to get it for a sample of the kiH packaging, but I also really liked this model and was happy to snag one. It's got vague Stratojet vibes to it, especially the way the blades are molded at the base. Of course Luminance and kathy ireland weren't given much time to really screw up what Emerson had going, so it was still very much over-engineered Emerson at its core. Like my Ideal, it has a machined flywheel on the bottom of the DC motor that the blades mount on. Completely unnecessary, but that was Emerson for you. Still super nice products, some of the best recently available, and I had hopes that kiH would infuse more of the trendiness with riskier, more exciting designs and finishes that Emerson has lacked over the past decade. They just didn't get the chance. This one uses a more mainstream canopy DC receiver and remote as opposed to the typical Emerson systems, but I'm impressed with the speed range and overall performance for the smaller size. These motors are a little more erratic on startup/reverse than some of the other great DC products out there, but that aside it's a nice motor. TBH I'm not much of an oil rubbed bronze person, you see very few fans in that general finish family on my channel, so this would've been my least-wanted finish. This at least is a much deeper bronze and it almost comes across as black, so can't say it's the worst I could've done. I was trying to figure out why it was a return. Thankfully it didn't end up being mechanically defective, but it also clearly had never been assembled at all. There was one factory blemish on a single blade where the finish didn't take, that's the only thing I could really find. Went into my stash of various markers and found a match that I could blend out, can't even see the blemish anymore.
