Hampton Bay Babiberre 36" ceiling fan in Berre Walnut, still in the original box. This one has sat on the remake list for awhile, and while I do rather like the fan, I wasn't overly enthusiastic about pulling it out again because I hated the factory speeds so much. I'm on a roll lately doing things I don't normally do, so I finally decided I'd be excited to put it up if I were to adjust the low speed to a better RPM. Normally I try to leave in-box fans generally alone and in original state just out of principle, but more and more I'm just thinking what's the point if it's not bringing me any joy? I tried several different capacitor values from what I had on hand; it really took dropping the value super low to get anywhere near what I wanted, and even the slightest differences in value were making a lot of difference in speed and I didn't have many options in the needed range on hand. Ultimately it could be a more "aesthetic" low speed if I were to grab a few more values to try, but I'm happy with the functional setting I achieved with a capacitor I already had. It serves as a solid low speed airflow setting, and definitely provides an improved low speed aesthetic over the fast, faster, and FASTEST factory settings. The other two speed values are unchanged, I think their resulting functional range is overall good with the adjusted low setting. This is one of few home center house brand products I keep in my collection at all, mainly because I love a smol, and while this one is larger on the smol spectrum, I like how it looks like a full size model shrunken down. Essentially it is, considering the companion Papaberre model. I always thought that was a neat concept, paired with the fact that the Babiberre was a 36" instead of a 42" or something more in that range. I will say I am glad this trend of weird faux wood and bronze finishes has more or less died off. I've ranted on the topic before in these descriptions so I'll spare doing so again, but I think they're just awful. Normally I love a gold/brass tone, but the extra faux detailing on this one paired with the brown mess is simply something that never should have been a design trend.
