June 3: Dr. Christine Whelan -- Purpose is a Verb
-submitted by Eric Krieghoff

Dr. Christine Whelan argues that purpose is active, communal, and built daily. Using a humorous story about needing help removing tight cowboy boots, she illustrates “purpose in action” through collaboration. She reframes purpose not as a single fixed life aim, but as “rocket fuel” powered by values, strengths, and positive impact. Purpose improves well-being, longevity, income, and goal achievement. She encourages a daily purpose statement linking values and gifts to helping others. Through a bricklaying parable, she highlights seeing one’s work as contributing to something greater. Purpose grows brick-by-brick through intentional actions taken today and building meaning together in community.

Guest Speaker starts at 15:17 minutes.
