Here's my latest original song. It's probably no surprise that this one is a wee bit on the dark side LOL
The song is about an outlaw preparing for his final stand off against the law...
Musically, I was inspired by the Song Spark Collective monthly challenge. This month was to use an alternate tuning or instrument.
I'm not great with alternate tunings but I did find out accidentally that when you rock a small plate on the edge of a chopping board it makes a really cool sound. So I recorded it, added a bunch of effects and that's the sound you hear at the start of the song (and throughout from time to time).
It took me a long time to get into this song. For some reason I have been alternating between liking and loathing it. But I'm happy enough with it now. Hope it appeals to some of you.
Fully recorded, mixed and mastered in Garageband on MacOS.
Recording wise this is my biggest project ever with 40 tracks.
Heaps of rhythm and lead guitar tracks (all doubled or quadrupled in places), some synths, bass, drums and about 14 vocal tracks.
Most of the effects and plugins were just the stock ones you find in Garageband.
Video was filmed on my iPad Pro and I used iMovie in MacOS to pull it together. The video is probably darker than the song LOL PS - Fake blood warning.
