Happy Christmas to you all!
Please forgive the editing, which is about as poor as it gets! I am no expert at joining movie clips together!
This is just a bit of fun for Christmas. It was about 3 degrees centigrade in the room, but about 40 degrees centigrade in the Gorilla outfit! If you look carefully you can see my breath at the end!
Holding the Flix sticks in my Gorilla hands (paws?) is not at all easy, so no laughing at my poor solo at the end - you try finesse in this suit!
I have tried to play Phil's part accurately, but he has his usual beautiful touch on the snare - those ghost notes between the main backbeat are are a joy to listen to (and I can't do 'em in this suit!).
I reckon this must be a world first - how many other Gorillas have played on a Roland TD20-KX?!!!!!!
I'll be posting some 'real' drum vids over the Xmas week, but in the meantime, thank you all for your incredible support over the year (s) and a Happy New Year to you all!
Some of you will recall that I once posted an entire 'mini movie' of the Gorilla doing the Cadbury's thing. I had to remove it because of copyright. I believe this version is acceptable, as it contains only the 'drum' part of the original song, so may reasonably be defined as a 'parody', and hence 'Fair Use'. I have also attempted to play it accurately, including the ghost notes, and as such it is also 'educational'.
As an aside, if any of you play guitar and feel able to play Genesis covers, and fancy a go at being in an international internet based Genesis cover band please, please get in touch with me :-)
Finally - for the person who asked me a few days ago - do Flix work on the Roland: the answer appears to be 'yes'!
