A music-theatrical reflection on power, politics and human weakness
With its pioneering blend of minimal music and narrative theatre, John Adams' opera NIXON IN CHINA takes us back to 1972 and the historic and turbulent journey of US President Richard Nixon to Mao Zedong's China.
Last summer, the theatre collective ‘Hauen und Stechen’ staged this modern masterpiece for the Deutsche Oper Berlin in its inimitable and breathless way. This Making-of provides insights into the creative process, the rehearsals and the production itself.
We are looking forward to three performances on 28 February and 2/5 March 2025.
