Written for and dedicated to violinist Miranda Cuckson and ‘cellist Julia Bruskin, my duo eight aspects of appreciation II is essentially a set of miniature variations. Although each variation is distinct relative its developmental scenario and mood, there are also a fair number of references to other movements. This is particularly the case in the eighth and concluding variation, which acts as a kind of summation of many of the previous variations.
Ms. Cuckson and Ms. Bruskin premiered it at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. as part of my three week residency there in February of 2013.
