“the clouds were beneath me” is a sound representation of a sunrise view of Heddon Valley in North Devon. I used to drive past this viewpoint on the way to work and the clouds were so low that they were touching the cliffs, whilst the colours of the sunrise were beautiful, I had to pull over and just look. It was so peaceful yet had a haunting feeling to it, which reflected my own emotions at the time. The feeling of coming out of lockdown was difficult for me, back to normal almost felt wrong. I wanted to convey this fragility, beauty, and uneasiness of the perspective I had that morning with the versatility and complimentary textures of the flute and harp combination.
