Hey everyone, here's a cover of the Billy Idol song "Rebel Yell".
This was another track that I do with Unsuspected ( @unsuspected4678 ), and it always goes over well with the crowd. I wanted to get as close as possible to the sounds on the original recording, and while I don't have a Lexicon PCM 41 delay unit like Steve Stevens used in the original for the "raygun" sound effect, or an actual toy raygun to do it like he does live, I was able to get close by just going ham on the Floyd Rose.
The other part that I wanted to get as close as possible to recreate is the "synth solo", which isn't actually a synth, but a guitar recorded through multiple pedals DI'd into the desk. The original signal chain according to Steve Stevens himself (as posted in a forum, which seems to be down now groomednoodlers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1762 ) was guitar - Boss compressor (CS-2) - Pro Co RAT Pedal - Boss octave (OC-2) - Boss chorus (most likely a CE-1) - Roland Space Echo - Roland Dimension D - Neve console. I had equivalents to most of these in pedal format, and the few that I didn't I was able to use plugins for, and I managed to get it really close to the original recording.
