Hello everyone!
This cover was done as my contribution to the VGCovers subreddit's first album, titled "The Horror Album". This song will go onto the second CD of the album. This is the layout of the album, quoted directly from the subreddit:
"This will be a free 2CD album. The 1st CD will contain songs from real Horror games, such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill, but also scary survival games (Dino Crisis...), horror action/RPG (Parasite Eve...) or even FPS (Doom...).
The 2nd CD will contain songs from more light games but still related to horror, as Castlevania or even more funyn games like Luigi's Mansion or Medievil. Could be also songs from non horror games but including a horror based part, stage or whatever. Could be a ghost forest, a haunted ship, a cemetery, a hell stage or whatever :)"
And I think Ikana Valley fits the bill quite nicely.
I used more of my slide for this cover, to create the spooky sound effects in the intro and outro. The outro was created by taking the intro sounds and reversing them (except for the "screeching slides").
I used more of my new Fender Stratocaster for this cover because it's the only guitar other than my 7 string which has strings that aren't completely rusted brown, also because I've run out of sets of strings for my guitars. This is the problem of owning over 4 guitars and having sweat that's basically kryptonite.
I used the same setup in this video as in the Singing Mountain cover that was uploaded almost a week before this cover.
I think I'm getting the hang of mixing 7-string guitars in metal, although that may have to do with the fact that the guitars in this cover are very easy and there's more rhythm guitar than lead.
