On May 4, 2024. An officer from the Hurley Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding and crossed over the centerline. The officer made contact with the driver (Chase) who stated he was on his way to his girlfriend's house. Chase had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He was asked to step out of the vehicle to complete field sobriety tests where he admitted to having two drinks but claimed that he “slept them off”. After the field sobriety tests, Chase was asked to provide a breath sample for a PBT which he agreed. The PBT results were recorded as a .140 BAC. He was transported to jail and a legal breath test showed the same BAC as a .140. Chase was found guilty for “OWI”. He was ordered to pay a $968 fine and his license got revoked for 6 months.
