In 1962, a couple with their son move to Derry, Maine just as a young boy disappears. With their arrival, very bad things begin to happen in the town.
The HBO prequel series IT: Welcome to Derry expands the terrifying world of Stephen King’s IT, and in this VFX Breakdown, we take a closer look at the work delivered by Alchemy 24.
Alchemy 24 contributed approximately 479 visual effects shots to the series. Their work focused on enhancing the dark atmosphere of Derry through detailed environmental effects, digital augmentations, and seamless compositing. The studio handled atmospheric simulations such as fog and weather enhancements, subtle supernatural visual touches, and CG integrations that blended practical footage with digital elements.
Their contribution helped strengthen the eerie tone of the show, ensuring that the horror elements felt grounded yet unsettling. From invisible digital clean-ups to noticeable supernatural enhancements, Alchemy 24’s work supported the overall cinematic quality of the series.
