13 Days, 13 Nights is a grounded political thriller where visual effects are used in a subtle and realistic way. For this project, BUF focused on delivering high-quality invisible VFX that support the story without drawing attention to themselves.
Real filming locations were digitally enhanced by extending buildings, streets, and distant backgrounds to increase the cinematic scale of the scenes. Practical sets were expanded through set extensions to appear larger and more believable. Unwanted elements captured during shooting—such as rigs, wires, and modern objects—were carefully removed to maintain visual continuity.
Several scenes include sky replacements and atmospheric enhancements like smoke, haze, and dust to strengthen the mood and tension. In sequences with limited extras, crowds were subtly enhanced to give the impression of larger-scale environments without a CGI-heavy look. All digital elements were seamlessly integrated with live-action footage through precise compositing, matching lighting, camera movement, and film grain.
BUF delivered a total of 329 VFX shots for this project, with the majority consisting of invisible visual effects designed to enhance realism, continuity, and immersion rather than spectacle.
