Marty Mauser, a wily hustler with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.

Led by VFX Supervisor Ezequiel Larru and VFX Producer Carolina Pinillos, El Ranchito delivered over 260 VFX shots for Marty Supreme, bringing fast-paced table tennis matches, crowded arenas, and detailed 1950s environments to life — all while keeping the effects largely invisible.

The film relies heavily on grounded, naturalistic visuals, and the VFX work was designed to remain unnoticed. El Ranchito primarily handled 2D compositing, especially in shots with minimal camera movement, ensuring seamless integration between live-action footage and digital enhancements.

Their work includes environment blending, precise lighting adjustments, and atmospheric effects such as smoke and depth enhancements to match the film’s gritty, period-accurate look. Every shot was carefully refined to align with real-world lighting and cinematography, maintaining a high level of authenticity.

In addition to compositing, the VFX pipeline involved crowd extensions, digital elements, and enhancement of practical effects, transforming smaller sets into large-scale, believable arenas filled with spectators.

Some sequences also required CG elements, including refinements to practical explosions and the integration of digital assets to enhance realism and visual continuity.

Cyborgs and synthetics exist alongside humans, but the game is changed when the Prodigy Corporation unlocks hybrids. The first hybrid prototype named Wendy marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutanis spaceship collides into Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms, which are more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined. FIN Design & Effects worked from pre-production through final delivery to create the MorrowArm, a key hero asset defining the series’ visual language. The asset appears in 300+ shots and was developed by a team of nearly 100 artists across design, modeling, rigging, lookdev, lighting, and compositing. The arm blends mechanical and organic elements, featuring a silicone-like outer layer over hybrid internal components suspended in gel. Translucent, Giger-inspired materials with visible inner mechanics helped achieve a distinct biomechanical look while staying true to the Alien franchise’s design DNA. Photorealism was achieved through extensive lighting and shader development, balancing opacity, transparency, and refraction across 30+ lighting environments. Actor roto-animation and digital doubles ensured accurate match-move, while CG animation restored subtle hand and finger motion limited by on-set prosthetics. A plate-driven lighting workflow, automated simulations, and optimized rendering pipelines allowed the asset to hold up even in close-ups, with final renders averaging ~10 minutes per 4K frame. In parallel, Fin Design & Effects also created large-scale future environments for Weyland-Yutani’s city, evolving Chicago into a near-future corporate capital using plate-extracted lighting and deep compositing.
