As drum major for the Pride of the Southland Band, junior Christian Carroll wants to be known for more than keeping his bandmates in time. For Carroll, it’s about good leadership and creating personal connections with each member in the band.
“If the only thing someone could say about me was that I was their drum major, I really couldn’t have been that great of a leader,” Carroll said. “But if you ask them about me and they really start to talk about the inspiration and dreams I left within them, then that’s when I find myself assured that I left a great impact.”
Carroll is from Collierville, Tennessee, and studies music education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His hopes for his future students are to make a positive impact on their lives and see that passed on through generations.
