UT is shaping the nation’s future in AI. Leading this charge is UT’s Vasileios Maroulas, professor of mathematics, associate vice chancellor, and director of the AI Tennessee Initiative.
“UT’s commitment to AI innovation has been unwavering,” Maroulas says. “We’re not just keeping the pace—we’re setting it. AI and advanced computing are now woven into the university’s long-term strategy.”
As director of UT’s statewide AI Tennessee Initiative, Maroulas works alongside hundreds of public and private partners to place Tennessee at the forefront of the global data economy. This includes mentoring K–12 teachers in the creation of AI curriculum to develop young talent in a growing career field.
