The Degritter Mark II is now part of my listening room, and this video is the beginning of a longer look at ultrasonic record cleaning on The Pressing Matters.
I talk about my long history with record cleaning, going back to the VPI 16.5 I bought around 1990, and why Harry Weisfeld’s record collection became the catalyst for finally bringing a dedicated ultrasonic cleaner into my own system.
I also share my first experiences with the Degritter Mark II, including cleaning a vintage Deutsche Grammophon pressing and the Impex 1STEP edition of Jennifer Warnes’ Famous Blue Raincoat.
This is not the full review. I’ll be living with the Degritter for roughly six weeks, using it extensively, and then returning with a more complete assessment in mid-October. There will also be more discussion of record cleaning methods and equipment throughout the rest of the year.
