This video is a reflection on one of those rare records that immediately connects — the kind you don’t analyze for long because you’re simply enjoying it.

Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers & Hart Songbook captures Ella at a remarkable moment in 1956, early in her legendary Songbook series for Verve Records. This was her second Songbook release — and now its first appearance in the Acoustic Sounds / Verve Series.

Spread across two LPs, the set is filled with some of the most enduring Rodgers & Hart compositions, performed with a sense of ease, warmth, and joy that makes it difficult to step away once it starts.

This reissue has been given exceptional care. It is mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, using the Lab’s all-tube cutting system, and pressed at Quality Record Pressings (QRP). The presentation matches the sound: a beautifully produced Stoughton Printing tip-on gatefold jacket, finished in a high-gloss style that feels every bit as considered as the records inside.

In this video, I focus less on the technical side and more on the experience — what it felt like to encounter this record and why it stayed with me.

Thanks for watching.
