Introducing 2025 Astronaut Scholar Logan Hanssler from the University of Chicago.
Logan is pursuing degrees in Molecular Engineering and Astrophysics. Logan is the primary lead for the team of over 60 undergraduate students designing the Polarization-modUlated Laser Satellite Experiment (PULSE-A), the University of Chicago's first CubeSat designed, built, and launched by undergraduate students. PULSE-A will conduct space-to-ground optical communications using polarization modulation and acts as the predecessor to a future quantum communications CubeSat. He also develops custom mechanical hardware, electrical hardware, and software to characterize novel detectors for the University of Chicago's South Pole Telescope Group.
