On July 26, 2024, I responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash with the involved vehicle leaving the scene.

Upon inspection, I observed fresh damage to the vehicle, including a broken driver-side mirror and dents and scratches on both the driver-side door and the rear passenger door. Additionally, there was visible paint transfer in black and white.

A male witness who was walking his dog provided a description of the suspects vehicle. He reported seeing a white SUV driven by a white female with blondish hair. The witness observed the vehicle reversing down Hillside Avenue before continuing east on Portland Road, ultimately making a left turn into the condominium complex. The vehicle then stopped, reversed, and struck a vehicle before continuing into the complex.

I subsequently located a white four-door SUV in the complex. The vehicle exhibited fresh damage consistent with that observed on the other vehicle, including silver paint transfer, dents, and black smear marks. It is noteworthy that the hood of the vehicle was warm to the touch. While examining the vehicle, I was approached by a female.

She inquired about the reason for my presence, to which I explained the situation. During our interaction, I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from this person. I also noted that her eyes appeared watery and bloodshot, and her speech was slurred.

She confirmed the vehicle belonged to her. When questioned about the damage, she claimed a box truck had struck her vehicle earlier in Brooklyn, NY.

She denied being involved in the incident on Portland Road. However, her account was inconsistent, as she initially stated that she was unsure if her vehicle had been struck in Brooklyn, only noticing the damage upon her return home.

When asked if she had consumed any alcohol upon returning home, she repeatedly denied having done so. Based on the witness testimony and her inconsistent statements, I suspected her involvement in the crash and potential impairment. We conducted field sobriety tests and then brought her into the station for processing.

She refused to give a breathe sample and was ultimately charged with:
