I may not have much time for Kirk, but 12 years (the maximum sentence) is too much time for a crime I could easily be guilty of myself. I feel helpless, and not incredibly hopeful, but if all I can offer him is support then I see no harm in trying.
If you do sign the petition, I think the consensus definitely seems to be to avoid any inflammatory remarks. He's in a hole, we need to throw him a rope not a shovel.
