Stuff around the house is always breaking, and I don't like to buy more stuff to replace the broken stuff, because the new stuff will break just like the old stuff... and probably faster. So how about we see if 3D printing can rescue something that has been broken for some time... our pool skimmer.

I love having the pool, but anyone with a pool will tell you that it is a lot of work to keep it clean. And if you have trees around, it is even more. Last year was far worse, as we had a tree which died after it was struck by lightening, all of the needles ended up in the pool, creating about an hour a day of cleanup. Little did I know that it was taking so long because the skimmer wasn't always working. I found that out later on in the season and didn't really have any good solutions. That is not until now.

I had a conversation with someone at the pool shop recently about my dilemma, and she said that she doesn't bother to use the flapper. Well if you don't have anything around your pool, that may be fine, but it doesn't work for me, and there is a very good reason that the skimmers come with flappers. It does a far better job of collecting debris. insects and any particles that land on the surface. If they're not captured, they sink to the bottom, where they need to be collected with a different method, and that tends to take even more time.

I hope you enjoy the process I took in this video to fix the problem, and if some of you have this problem, feel free to reach out to me, maybe I can help.

I am of course using my Bambu Lab X-1 Carbon Printer, it makes these parts easily and I don't need to watch the printer. It has been super handy to have a printer like this to help make more content faster than ever before.

All of the filament I've used in the video was Bambu Lab filament, and I had no issues aside from the PLA deteriorating.
