Do you believe it’s OK to not want to have autistic kids?

I found yet another controversial take posted by @kaelynn

She argued that it was OK not to want to have autistic kids because autistic people struggle in today’s society so much.

Does that make you uncomfortable? I would hope it does because it is an example of eugenic thinking. “Eugenic thinking” is when an idea or belief aligns with a core principle of eugenics but doesn’t fully encapsulate the entire eugenics philosophy.

Not wanting to have disabled children because they will struggle is a key belief in eugenics. The core principle behind this belief is the rationalization of the elimination of a particular group of people due to their “limitations.“

While on the surface of it, this belief can seem logical… When you zoom out to the greater societal implications of this belief, things get very scary very quickly.
